Washington Roebling is well known as the man who supervised construction of the Brooklyn Bridge. This is the story of Roebling’s Civil War service at Gettysburg and beyond, and how that serviceâ€"as artilleryman, bridge builder, scout, balloonist, mapmaker, engineer, and staff officerâ€"prepared him well for overseeing that monumental task.
