A body is discovered at Maxstead Court School for Girls and DI Reardon investigates. He finds the school a hotbed of scandalous secrets and schoolgirl cruelty. As he pursues his enquiries, it is clear that the victim was not who she claimed to be and Reardon is convinced that more than one member of staff is not telling him the truth.
