The Sanusiya was an influential Islamic movement in North Africa and the Sahara in the 19th century. Muhammad Ali al-Sanusi formed the basis of the movement; this study focuses on the scholarly tradition of which he was part and the heritage of the organization of the Sufi order in North Africa.
