South Africa In Transition

The author argues that the view of the transition of South Africa as a miracle has to be viewed with caution. Guelke begins in the 1980s when political analysts spoke of political impasse without a solution, before considering the period from the release of Mandela up to the 1994 elections against the background of economic and social problems.
