Trigger warnings: to me, the birthing scene was completely traumatic (as well as unnecessary), but maybe it's just my brain playing tricks on me... The good: I like that we could see the writing improve with time, we could see the author as well as the characters grow. The bad: This 'growth' was completely obliterated on the final 50 (maybe) pages. The last chapter (before the epilogue) was the equivalent of a movie montage to show us that life passes, and boy did it pass! Grudges of a life time forgiven as well as forgotten, decisions (that shaped the story) were 'taken back', I truly don't understand it.
