This book is a post-cold war history of the Office of Naval Research, examining the changes in mission, organization, the projects, new weapons systems, and other R&D efforts it spearheaded during this time, and how they fit into the Navy as a whole. As such, it is an important window on the future of U.S. seapower, in a new era where the nature of war is changing.
