To evoke IBO’s past, to know the biodiversity that flourishes there, to evaluate the causes that affect it, to call for a balanced union between human activities and the protection of the environment in which they are carried out, and finally to show that protecting nature is a key for the future and not a constraint… These are the reasons that have guided the writing of this book. May the message be heard even beyond the shores of Ibo! This is the wish of the authors and all those who initiated or supported this project.
