Confesso que não tinha expectativas muito altas para este livro (embora adore a artista e as suas músicas) mas acabou por me deixar sem palavras (no bom sentido claro). Achei todos os poemas interessantes e muito bem escritos, notando-se que a autora tem um ótimo conhecimento do vocabulário e sabe usá-lo da melhor forma, escolhendo os melhores sinónimos e expressões para comunicar o que pretende sem ser expectável ou repetitiva (o que também me ajudou a descobrir novas palavras em inglês). Aborda diversos temas (alguns deles pesados) fazendo com que o leitor encontre algo com que se identifique. A honestidade e vulnerabilidade com que nos dá a conhecer mais da sua vida pessoal e emocional é absolutamente incrível bem como a sua capacidade de analisar situações e alguns dos poemas irão sem dúvida marcar o leitor para sempre. O livro em si também é muito bonito, de capa dura ilustrada pela própria autora .(Haverá alguma coisa que ela não consiga fazer?!). Adoraria que este fosse o primeiro de muitos livros da autora pois fiquei com vontade de ler muito mais.

"You're made of everything good in this world." I have seen Halsey as a great artist ever since I can remember knowing her name. Music. Paint. Poetry. Art. "I would leave me if I could" turned out to be everything it promised it would be. It is real poetry, the well-written kind we read in English class, and the powerful kind that comes to us at 2 in the morning when we are missing someone. It is classic and it is modern and it is a chorus of voices repeating these very same lines over the centuries. It is truth with no barriers or boundaries, it is the truth, both clear and dark, it is the kind of truth that makes you lie awake in the middle of the night thinking about the life you live. I heard Halsey's poetry for the very first time, as many others did, when she read "A Story like mine" aloud during The Women's March in 2018. That day, I believe America stopped to hear what she had to say, how could they not? She yelled her story and stories like hers to the hundreds on the streets, to the people who are supposed to protect them, to the man who was president, calling out our scary and unfair society. That was the first time I ever heard her poetry and it broke my heart. Today, it did it again. "Lord knows, there's a war to be won."

Halsey writes so wonderfully I am in love with her words, in paper or in music. She poured her heart and her life in here. It contains that poem she read at the Women's March in 2018, which made me cry again.
