Depois da resolução emocional do quinto volume ("Network Effect"), estava à espera de ler sobre algo diferente e de continuar linearmente no tempo em vez de andarmos um bocadinho para trás. Ainda assim, Martha Wells nunca desilude na forma como escreve sobre a personagem titular, Murderbot. Desta vez, no papel de detetive do que aparenta ser um homicídio. A resolução é especialmente interessante a nível temático e emocional para a personagem principal, pelo que valeu muito a pena.
