Cameron Cooper, a young African-American high school student, lives with hisgrandmother in a southern metropolis. He is a strong student and hopes toattend college on a basketball scholarship. Cameron finds himself in a contestof self-esteem, as his performance on and off the court is challenged, oftendeprecated, by a disabled Vietnam veteran. Their unfortunate clash results in aflurry of hostilities, resulting in new revelations that fracture southern mythsand reveal hopeful strengths of character.
