A prequela de "Priory" é um mundo repleto de intrigas, personagens fascinantes , dragões repletos de luz e sombras. Permito-nos conhecer melhor as histórias por detrás das lendas, acompanharmos personagens como Dumai e Glorianna que não se submetem as autoridades dos outros. São mulheres guerreiras, ambiciosas e aventureiras que querem salvar os seus reinos, mas não permitem com que destroem a sua vontade. "A day of fallen night" também revela-nos as origens das irmãs guerreiras, uma irmandade que já não possui muitos seguidores mas que continuam a acreditar na volta do dragão maléfico e por isso dedicam a sua vida a proteger aquele mundo desse mal. Não posso deixar de destacar as descrições pormenorizadas dos vários reinos, principalmente do reino de Dumai, que nos deslumbram e nos oferecem atmosferas magníficas pinceladas de muita cor.

Um livro que quando se começa a ler é difícil parar. Neste livro um antecedente para "The Priory of The Orange Tree", a autora expande a história desta fantasia épica, com novas personagens cativantes e através destas ficamos a conhecer mais sobre o mundo da história. Este livro que apesar de se passar 500 anos antes de "Priory" consegue cativar-nos, de maneira com que ficamos preocupados com o que pode acontecer às personagens e ao mundo.

Samantha Shannon nasceu em Londres, Inglaterra, e formou-se em Língua Inglesa e Literatura na Universidade de St. Anne, em Oxford. Autora bestseller do New York Times, começou a escrever histórias aos 12 anos e já viu o seu trabalho traduzido em mais de 25 países. O Priorado da Laranjeira, a sua quarta obra, foi finalista do Lambda Literary — prémio anual dos Estados Unidos para obras literárias com temática LGBTQIA+ — em 2020 e vendeu mais de um milhão de exemplares.
