This book explores the position of women in the patriarchal world of ancient Mesopotamia. As well as mothers, daughters, or wives, they were also authors and scholars, business-women, sources of expressions of eroticism, priestesses with access to gods and goddesses, and regents exercising power on behalf of kingdoms and empires.
