Stella Ainsworth has settled for a suburban life with a pedantic husband, a dissatisfied daughter and a clutch of beloved grandchildren - who all take her presence in their lives for granted. Until Cameron Keene, her boyfriend at 18 who left for America and became a rock icon of the Sixties, announces that his most famous song was written about Stella and that he has come back to England to find her. Her family laugh at the idea of their grandmother as a Sixties inspiration, Stella worries about how much she's altered from the young girl Cameron remembers. She wonders if he could really mean it and what effect it will have on her life if he does.
