ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Adam Zagajewski

Adam Zagajewski (1945-2021) nasceu em Lviv, na Polónia. A sua família foi expulsa desta cidade pelos ucranianos, mudando-se para Gliwice, onde o poeta viveu até à adolescência. Fez estudos universitários de Filosofia e Psicologia em Cracóvia. Estreou-se como poeta em 1967, com o poema «Música», publicado numa revista literária. Politicamente ativo, viu o seu trabalho criativo ser banido pelas autoridades comunistas da Polónia. Em 1982 emigrou para Paris, regressando ao país natal em 2002. A sua poesia é internacionalmente reconhecida e está traduzida em dezenas de línguas. Entre poesia, prosa e ensaio, tem mais de vinte livros publicados. Zagajewski foi professor convidado na Universidade de Chicago, onde lecionou cursos sobre o poeta Czeslaw Milosz.
