Timor-Leste, que reconquistou a independência em 2002, situa-se entre a Indonésia e a Austrália, bem dentro do Triângulo de Coral, expoente máximo da biodiversidade da vida marinha em todo o planeta.
O mar que circunda Timor-Leste atinge em alguns locais profundidades superiores a três mil metros, enquanto as mais altas montanhas alcançam quase três mil metros de altitude e albergam ainda florestas misteriosas.
Este livro retrata em detalhe a natureza subaquática e terrestre de Timor-Leste. Elaborado ao longo de sete anos, inclui fotografias de mais de 900 espécies de peixes, moluscos, crustáceos e outros animais marinhos, bem como mais de 100 espécies de aves, répteis e mamíferos, muitas das quais endémicas.
