Three Comrades

Erich Maria Remarque was born on June 22, 1898, and became one of the most important writers of the 20th century. Banned by the Nazis for supposedly being a descendant of French Jews, he saw his books thrown into the bonfire and was exiled in 1933 on charges of propaganda against German nationalism. Remarque still saw his work recognized at the highest level of literature and became one of the leading candidates for the Nobel Prize in his time. This was his last complete work, and his oeuvre has been immortalized by his readers worldwide.
