Set in the chaotic aftermath of the fall of Baby Doc, this novel tells the past of two generations of Haitians. It narrates the bloody history of the Haiti itself, from the violent years of colonialism and slavery. It explores the harsh realities of postcolonial Haiti from a womanist perspective.
