ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Elias Khoury

Elias Khoury nasceu em Beirute, em 1948. É romancista, dramaturgo, crítico e um dos mais influentes intelectuais do mundo árabe. Dirige atualmente o suplemento cultural do jornal diário Na-Nahar e é professor universitário, repartindo o seu tempo entre Nova Iorque, onde dá aulas na Universidade de Columbia, e a sua cidade de origem, onde dá aulas na Universidade Americana. Os seus dez romances estão traduzidos em diversas línguas. A Porta do Sol, estreia literária de Khoury em Portugal, recebeu a mais alta distinção literária palestiniana – e o seu autor foi galardoado com o Prémio Unesco 2012 para a Cultura Árabe.
