Kisshomaru Ueshiba

Kisshomaru Ueshiba foi o segundo Doshu - a pessoa que incorpora o espírito do Aikido como herdeiro do seu fundador e aceite como o símbolo vivo do Aikido. Escreveu vários livros sobre o Aikido, em japonês e inglês, inclusive o clássico O Espírito do Aikido, publicado pela Editora Cultrix.
Kisshomaru nasceu em 1921, sendo o terceiro filho de Morihei Ueshiba, o fundador do Aikido. Graduou-se pela Universidade de Waseda em 1946, tornou-se o mestre da sede central mundial do Aikido em 1948 e, em 1967, foi indicado para ser o presidente da Fundação Aikikai, a principal organização de Aikido no Japão e no exterior. A sua nomeação oficial como sucessor do pai ocorreu em 1969. Ele faleceu em 1999.
