Hermógenes

Born in 1922 in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, José Hermógenes de Andrade Filho is considered a pioneer in holistic medicine in Brazil, with over 40 years of practice and teaching yoga. A philosopher, poet, writer, and therapist, Professor Hermógenes often says that he feels younger today, at 78, than he felt at 35. He holds a doctorate in Yoga Therapy, a title conferred by... World Development ParliamentHe, from India, is the creator of anti-stress training.
However, if it weren't for a series of health problems Hermógenes experienced in the 1960s, the professor would never have become the master of Hatha Yoga, the subject about which he wrote the book. Self-Perfection with Hatha Yoga, still his greatest publishing success to this day. This book was followed by another 30, some published abroad, in addition to the translation of six volumes of a philosophical and spiritualist nature.
He published, among others, Health in Old Age and Yoga for Nervous PeopleThe professor began writing textbooks in 1955. He has lost count of the seminars, classes, and lectures he has given in Brazil, Portugal, and Argentina, where, incidentally, he enjoys a prestige he considers greater than in Brazil. Married for the second time, he has two daughters from his first marriage.
Professor Hermógenes received the National Integration Medal of Health Sciences and the Diploma d'Onore at the IX International Congress of Parapsychology, Psychotronics and Psychiatry (Milan, 1977). Chosen as a Citizen of Peace of Rio de Janeiro in 1988, Professor Hermógenes received the Tiradentes Medal on May 8, 2000. The award was conferred by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro for the well-being and health benefits that the works of José Hermógenes de Andrade Filho brought to Brazilians. The professor divides his time between publishing books, producing articles for the press and theses for scientific congresses, and his classes, whether in the form of courses or seminars.
