ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Andrés Barba

Born in Madrid in 1975, he was a Spanish teacher for foreigners at the Complutense University of Madrid and is now a creative writing coach. He is recognized as a translator, having worked with authors such as Joseph Conrad, Henry James and F. Scott Fitzgerald, in addition to the novel. Moby Dick, by Herman Melville.
He made his fiction debut with the acclaimed novel Katia's sister, a finalist for the Herralde Prize for Fiction and adapted for film by Mijke de Jong. Among others, this was followed by Now played dance music, Versiones de Teresa (Torrente Ballester Award), a collection of novels La recta intenciónthe essay The ceremony of porn (co-authored with Javier Montes, Anagram Prize for Essay), Death of a horse (Juan March Prize) and The Hands Small, published in Portugal by Minotauro. He was chosen by Granta magazine as one of the best Spanish-language fiction writers of his generation.
