Jonathan Franzen

Jonathan Franzen was born in 1959 in Illinois and lives in New York. He is the author of four novels: The Twenty-Seventh City (1988), Strong Motion (1992), Corrections (2001) and Freedom (2010); and two works of non-fiction: How to Be Alone (2002) and The Discomfort Zone (2006). It was considered by Granta and by The New Yorker as one of the best American novelists under forty. Few works have achieved such unanimous critical and public acclaim as The Corrections, which had more than a million readers in the United States, was classified as a masterpiece and as "the great novel of the century," experienced unprecedented international dissemination with publication in almost every language and a solid film project. With CorrectionsJonathan Franzen also won the 2001 National Book Award and the 2002 James Tait Black Memorial Award. In August 2010, Jonathan Franzen was on the cover of the magazine. Team - an honor that has not been bestowed upon a living author for a decade - with the words "The Great American Novelist" prominently displayed.
