ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Peter Handke

Prémio Nobel da Literatura 2019

Escritor austríaco, Peter Handke nasceu em Griffen, na Áustria, a 6 de dezembro de 1942. Passou aí a sua infância e também em Berlim Leste. Fez o liceu num seminário católico e, em 1961, ingressou no curso de Direito da Universidade de Graz. Durante os seus tempos de estudante, Handke frequentou o grupo de escritores «Forum Stadtpark» e publicou artigos na revista Manuskripte. Abandonou os estudos após a publicação do seu primeiro romance Die Hornissen, em 1965. Desde então tem dedicado a sua vida à escrita, destacando-se como dramaturgo, mas também como romancista, poeta, argumentista e realizador de cinema.
Foi o vencedor do Prémio Nobel de Literatura 2019.
Atualmente vive em Chaville, França.
