Sou o que Sou

Lendo Florbela quis fazer sonetos,
e ouvindo Ary quis mudar o Mundo:
estrofes de Camões foram amuletos,
cantá-las saía-me cá do fundo!

Com o tempo fui fazendo panfletos
em toada errante de vagabundo;
consegui até esboçar folhetos,
e neles expressar saber profundo

Já não me interessa outro qualquer ser,
se não aquilo em que me sinto eu...
Nem penso com quem me posso parecer!

Será egoísmo? Não, porque só é meu
o sentimento que em palavras tecer
e ficar no coração de quem o leu...

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Carlos Luna

Carlos Eduardo da Cruz Luna was born on March 16, 1956. He has been a History teacher in secondary education for 40 years, almost always in Estremoz, and holds a degree in History.
An enthusiast of great causes, a bit of a dreamer, a follower of the principles of the poet Aleixo:

"What does it matter to lose one's life / in the fight against betrayal, / if reason, even defeated, / does not cease to be reason."

Married and with nothing to complain about, two children (a girl and a boy).
He has written and continues to write about many things, usually fighting for causes he considers just, from freedom for West Papuasia to the rights of the Kurdish people or the independence of Western Sahara, from ecology to the sustainable development of Portugal... as long as it is not done against anyone.
He dislikes pessimism, not because it sometimes has no reason to exist, but because he believes that only we, the Portuguese, can change ourselves.
Therefore, although I like Saramago's literature, I consider his ideas about Portugal's integration into Spain (or any other country) to be nonsense, although I am not against the idea of humanity federating as a whole and even of balanced unions of countries emerging, of which Portugal could be a part.
He wrote a book in 1994 (On the Roads to Olivença), before the present Sonnets about poetry (2018).
He frequently attends conferences and colloquia as a speaker.
He writes poetry sometimes, but this is the first time he's had anything published in book form.
