Michael Morpurgo is one of the most acclaimed children's and young adult authors today. He has published around fifty works, already translated into twelve languages. Among the various awards he has received, the following stand out: Whitbread Children's Novel Prize and the 'Children's Book Award' with "The Kingdom of Kensuke", Morpurgo's debut book in the collection "Starfish"Many of his books have already been adapted for film and television.
The author lives in Devon, is married, a father of three, and a grandfather. He attended the University of London and quickly began teaching. After ten years in the teaching profession, he decided to pursue his life's project: founding a rural farm that would welcome children from the cities, in order to encourage contact with the countryside, teamwork, and animal life. Twenty years later, Morpurgo already manages two themed farms, in Devon and Wales, and is planning the opening of a third. With the British Royal Family as patron, the themed farms annually receive more than two thousand children who, for a week during the school term, can enjoy the unforgettable experience of feeling and living a healthy season in the countryside.
