Gabriela Mistral
PRÉMIO NOBEL DA LITERATURA 1945
Poetisa chilena (1889-1957), de nome verdadeiro Lucila Godoy Alcayaga, que foi a primeira mulher da América Latina a ser distinguida com o Prémio Nobel da Literatura (1945). Começou por tornar-se conhecida no seu país com Sonetos de la muerte (1914), obra a que foi atribuído um prémio nacional. Mais tarde escreveria ainda Desolación (1922), Ternura (1924) e Tala (1938).
