ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Eric Hobsbawm

He was an English historian, considered one of the most important figures in the field of contemporary historiography. He was born in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1917, and died in October 2012. He taught at Birkbeck College, in London, and in New School of Social ResearchHe was born in New York. He was a member of the British Academy and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and was awarded honorary doctorates from several universities. He distinguished himself as one of the most important contemporary historians and is the author of a vast body of work on history and politics. His book The Age of Extremes, published in 1994, has become a seminal work on the recent history of humanity. In addition to that and NationalismEditorial Presença also published The Age of Capital, The Age of Revolutions, The Age of Empire 1875-1914, The 21st Century - Reflections on the Future, co-authored with Antonio Polito, and Globalization, Demographics and Terrorism.
