ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Pedro Pinto

Since her mother offered her one Mobylette Starting at age 11, Pedro Pinto's world revolved around motorcycles. In the 1970s, he began competing in gymkhanas and motocross. He competed in the National Speed ​​and Motocross Championships in the 50cc and 125cc classes from 1975 to 1981, the year in which, after a serious accident, he left the competition. He was a founding member of the Sintra Motorcycle Club and, from 1986, revitalized the Lisbon Vespa Club, associations he led for several years; he was also a founding member of the National Motorcycle Federation, which relaunched the sport in Portugal. Collecting a vast array of memorabilia and documentation about the world of motorcycles in Portugal since a young age, he also worked in journalism in this area, contributing to various magazines. He organized the exhibition... "The Motorcycles of the Century, the Century of Motorcycles" and the respective catalog (2000, Expo 98), the largest exhibition on the subject ever held in our country. He wrote the books Vintage Motorcycles in Portugal (1995), Portuguese 50cc Motorcycles (2015) and, at Quetzal, The Motorcycles of Our Lives (2020) and 50 Portuguese Motorcycles We Will Never Forget (2021), now re-released in a new format.
