Jan Baetens

Nasceu em 1957. Poeta, crítico literário e ensaísta. Muito próximo da poesia chamada "restrições" nos seus primeiros textos, ele gradualmente se abriu para formas de expressão mais livre. Do ponto de vista temático, ele atribui grande importância à representação do quotidiano nas suas formas mais inesperadas e humildes, cujo humor nunca está ausente. Como crítico publicou tanto estudos sobre poesia quanto inúmeros trabalhos académicos sobre a relação entre textos e imagens, especialmente noschamados géneros menores, como, a novela, a fotonovela e o cinema romântico.
