Deixei que a cidade me perscrutasse a mim e decidisse entregar ou não as suas chaves. As fotos e textos deste livro também o fazem - esperam. São homenagens ao Porto de rara beleza, valiosas por si mesmas. E contudo…, ambicionando mais. Resta gozá-las e esperar…

I allowed the city to scan me and decide to give me or not its keys. The photos and texts of this book also do it - they await. They are tributes of rare beauty to Porto, valuable in themselves. And yet… coveting more. What is left is to enjoy them and wait…

The poem is, all of it, the significant city.

A cultura hoje, seja nos locais transmudados, seja nas novas inscrições da cidade, (a Casa da Música, espantosa de enquadramentos fotográficos e verbais) ou os portais de Alice que o especular Hazul Luzah vai semeando), a chuvosa rua de Miguel Bombarda, os Museus de Imprensa e o das Marionetas ou, enquadramentos de retratos de artistas como o atelier de José Rodrigues, os espaços culturais onde reencontramos músicos, maestros, arquitetos, livreiros ou aqueles amantes da arte que a foram juntando, lembrando, gerindo, oferecendo, onde a cultura se chama Franganito, Ovelha Negra ou Comer e Chorar por Mais. A cidade segue pelos quase esquecidos caminhos do Romântico oscilando entre o seiscentismo e o oitocentismo e é inventada - e só o que inventamos, ao que se diz, é verdadeiro - até à Foz. A imagem recebe o tangível, a palavra, o intangível. E é com cartografias mentais e ofertas do visível que construímos atmosferas de reconhecimento nesta visita guiada ao Porto cultural.

Culture today, whether in transmuted locations, or in the new inscriptions of the city (the Casa da Música, stunning for its photographic and verbal frameworks) or the portals of Alice that the speculation of Hazul Luzah keeps seeding), the rainy Rua de Miguel Bombarda, the Museu da Imprensa and the Museu das Marionetas or settings of artists’ portraits such as the studio of José Rodrigues, cultural spaces where we find musicians, teachers, architects, booksellers or those lovers of art that kept gathering it, remembering, managing, delivering, where culture is called Franganito, Ovelha Negra or Comer e Chorar por Mais. The city follows through the almost forgotten caminhos do Romântico ranging from the sixteen hundreds and the eighteen hundreds and is invented, - and only what we invent, it is said, is true, - till the Foz. The image receives the tangible, the word, the intangible. And it is with mental cartographies and offerings of the visible that we build recognition atmospheres on this guided tour of the cultural Porto.
