Isabel Allende

Isabel Allende is a novelist, feminist and philanthropist who was born in Peru and spent most of her youth in Chile.
She is one of the most widely read writers in the world, having sold more than 85 million copies, and her 38 books are published in 42 languages.
She is the author of several critically calmed bestsellers , such as The Wind Knows My Name, Violeta, Long Petal of the Sea, The House of the Spirits, Of Love and Shadow and Paula.
In addition to her work as a writer, Isabel dedicates much of her time to humanitarian causes.
She has received 15 honorary doctorates, been inducted into the California Hall of Fame , and has been honored with the PEN Center Lifetime Achievement Award and the Anisfield-Wolf Lifetime Achievement Award.
In 2014, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Barak Obama, the highest civilian distinction in the US. In 2018, he received the Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters, awarded by the National Book Foundation.
She lives in California with her husband and dogs.
