ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Martin Amis

Martin Amis (Oxford, August 25, 1949 – Lake Worth, May 19, 2023) was one of the most important and controversial English-language authors. He was born in Wales and was the son of the writer Kingsley Amis. The raw material of his novels is rooted in the absurdity of the postmodern condition and the excesses of late capitalism in Western societies; and his unmistakable style is compulsive, terribly vivid. Saul Bellow, Vladimir Nabokov, and James Joyce were his major literary influences. In turn, he influenced a new generation of novelists, such as Will Self and Zadie Smith.
