ABOUT THE AUTHOR

John Freeman

John Freeman was born in Cleveland in 1974 and lives in New York. He is a writer, editor and literary critic. He graduated from Swarthmore College, Pennsylvania. He is an artist in residence at New York University. He has written two non-fiction books — The Tyranny of E-mail and How to Read a Writer (Tinta-da-china, 2013) —, one of poetry — Mapas (Tinta-da-china, 2019) — and organized the anthologies Tales of Two Cities and Tales of Two Americas. He was Granta's English-language editor for several years, and the great promoter of its internationalization process. In 2015, he founded the literary magazine Freeman's, which he has directed since then and which already has international editions. He is also executive editor of LitHub, a website dedicated to literature and book culture. His texts have been published in magazines and newspapers such as The New Yorker, The Paris Review or The New York Times.
