Carmen Laforet

Carmen Laforet (1921-2004) originária de Barcelona, cresceu em Las Palmas, Canárias, para onde a sua família se mudou. Regressa a Barcelona após a guerra civil (1936-39). As heroínas dos seus romances são em larga medida autobiográficas, refletindo a própria vivência da autora. Nada, o seu romance de estreia, vence o prémio Nadal e torna-se em pouco tempo num caso editorial destinado a entrar na galeria dos clássicos modernos. A autora é um dos maiores expoentes do «tremendismo», estilo que se caracteriza pelas suas imagens de intensidade violenta e grotesca. A partir dos anos 60 Laforet deliberadamente afasta-se da cena literária e mundana. Morre em Madrid aclamada como um dos maiores vultos da literatura espanhola.
