Juan Giménez

Juan Giménez was an Argentinian cartoonist born in 1943 in Mendoza. He died in April 2020. He began his career as a cartoonist for major Argentinian publishers. In 1981, Glénat published his first album in French. The Black StarThat same year, he collaborated on the film. Heavy Metal, produced in Canada, creating the storyboard, concept art, and staging of the sequence of Harry CanyonAmong the international awards he has received are: Best Artist chosen by readers of an international magazine. Comix 1984 and 1983, 84, 85 and 90; Award for Best Cartoonist in the History of Comics and Illustration in Barcelona in 1984; Yellow Kid Awarded by the Lucca International Comics Council in 1990; Bulle d'Or in France in 1994. He later published (with Glénat, Dargaud, Bagheera and Albin Michel) The Veritable History of Léo Roa, Mutant, The Fourth Power, Le Regard de l'Apocalypse and TitaniaIn 1992, he collaborated with Alejandro Jodorowsky on his most famous series, which ended in 2004 after 8 volumes and a special edition. La Caste des Méta-BaronsIt was this series that made him one of the most admired cartoonists in San Francisco's comics scene. In 1997, his works were exhibited at the Georges Pompidou Center.
