ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Helena Cabeçadas

Helena Cabeçadas holds a master's degree in Anthropology, a postgraduate degree in Psychosociology, and a bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from the Free University of Brussels, the city where she went into exile at the age of 17 after being expelled from all schools in Portugal during the Salazar dictatorship. She has taught at various higher education institutions and was part of the staff of the Center for Drug Studies and Prevention during its formation in 1977. In 1982 she received a scholarship. Fulbright to Philadelphia (USA), where he worked in Philadelphia Psychiatric Center (Drug Treatment Program)In 1984, she was requested by the Macau Government to work in the area of ​​drug addiction and mental health, and she was also a researcher at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is the author of several scientific articles on drugs and culture, addiction prevention, and therapeutic communities. She has published the books... "Brussels, City of Exiles", "Mozambique. Dreams, experiences and memories" and "Philadelphia in black and white".
