Shiki

Masaoka Shiki, nome literário de Masaoka Noboru, foi um poeta e crítico literário japonês nascido na cidade de Matsuyama, em 1867. Desde cedo se dedicou à teorização e reforma das formas clássicas de composição lírica do Japão, tendo sido um dos principais promotores no desenvolvimento da modernidade na poesia haiku. A sua obra inclui perto de vinte mil versos, ensaios e artigos de jornal, afirmando-o como o último dos Quatro Grandes da Poesia Haiku. Morre em 1902, aos 34 anos de idade, de tuberculose.
