ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Kjell Ringi

Kjell Arne Sörensen Ringi (1936-2010) was a Swedish artist whose work encompassed painting, illustration, graphic design, and sculpture. A master of detail, with his characteristic minimalist figures, and sumptuous in the grand, with his magnificent and sculptural cathedrals and skyscrapers that struggle against the sky, his paintings are represented in some thirty international museums, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Library of Paris, the Ludwig Museum in Cologne, the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, and the Staatliche Musée in Berlin.
After spending long periods in New York, where she achieved great success with her paintings, Ringi created seven illustrated albums for some of the largest American publishers between 1967 and 1974.
Books written and illustrated by himself, such as The Stranger (selected as one of the best illustrated books of 1968 by the Junior Literary Guild), and also in association with the writer Adelaide Holl.
