Simon Winchester

Simon Winchester was born in London in 1944. In 1967 he embarked on a career in journalism. He was a correspondent for The Guardian in Belfast, Calcutta and Washington. In 1997 he moved to New York, beginning a dazzling literary career.
In 2006, he received the Order of the British Empire from Queen Elizabeth II, with the rank of Officer.
