In comparison with the Army of Northern Virginia, Confederate forces in the West saw limited success. Still, there were outstanding generals whose accomplishments have received minimal attention, particularly the infantry commander Patrick R Cleburne. This work presents a level of detail that is unsurpassed in the study of this significant figure.
