ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Gilbert Strang

Gilbert Strang graduated in Mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States. He also studied at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, and, upon returning to America, earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Returning to MIT, he became a professor and has taught at the institution since 1970. His Linear Algebra course has been offered to thousands of students. Such dedication, coupled with his commitment to democratizing the subject worldwide, has made Gilbert Strang an international reference. Furthermore, his brilliant career has earned him the Haimo Prize, awarded by the Mathematical Association of America, and the Su Buchin Prize, awarded by the International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM).
