ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Primo Levi
Primo Levi nasceu em Turim, em 1919, e suicidou-se nessa cidade em 1987. Licenciado em Química, participou na Resistência, foi preso e internado no campo de concentração de Auschwitz. É com Calvino e Pavese, uma das principais figuras da geração italiana do pós-guerra. Notabilizou-se pela autoria de vários livros sobre a experiência naqueles campos – de que o livro Se isto é um homem é o exemplo mais célebre – assim como por contos e romances. Assim foi Auschwitz, escrito com Leonardo De Benedetti e curado por Fabio levi e Domenico Scarpa, recolhe um conjunto admirável de textos inéditos em Portugal sobre a experiência dos campos de extermínio. «Esta é a experiência da qual saí e que me marcou profundamente; o seu símbolo é a tatuagem que até hoje trago no braço: o meu nome de quando não tinha nome, o número 174517.
