ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Arnold Lobel

(Los Angeles, 1933 - New York, 1987)
He studied Art at the Pratt Institute, where he met the woman who would become his wife, the illustrator Anita Kempler. He began working for an advertising agency and later dedicated himself to illustrating books written by other authors. In 1962, his first book, "A Zoo for Mister Muster," was published, followed a year later by "A Holiday for Mister Muster." As an author and illustrator, he received numerous accolades from the public and specialized critics. Among the awards he received, the Caldecott Book of Honor, the Christopher Award, the Caldecott Award, and the Newbery Book of Honor stand out. Throughout his career, he illustrated about 70 books by other writers, in addition to almost thirty books written and illustrated by himself.
