ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Isabel Castro Henriques

Isabel Castro Henriques nasceu em Lisboa em 1946, tendo-se licenciado em História em 1974, na Universidade de Paris I – Panthéon-Sorbonne. Em 1993, doutorou-se em História de África na mesma universidade francesa, com uma tese consagrada ao estudo da Angola oitocentista, numa perspetiva de longa duração. Professora Associada com Agregação do Departamento de História da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa, introduziu os estudos de História de África em 1974, orientou teses de mestrado e doutoramento e ensinou durante quase 40 anos História de África, História do Colonialismo e História das Relações Afro-Portuguesas, desenvolvendo hoje a sua investigação histórica sobre África e sobre os Africanos no CEsA/ISEG-Universidade de Lisboa. Além de trabalhos científicos de natureza diversa, como projetos de investigação, programas museológicos, exposições, documentos fílmicos, colóquios e congressos, seminários, conferências, publicou dezenas de artigos e livros centrados nas temáticas históricas africanas.
