ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Ian Fleming

Ian Lancaster Fleming (1908-1964), born into the English aristocracy, was the writer and journalist who created the character James Bond, better known as Agent 007. At the beginning of World War II, he began working as a correspondent for a London newspaper. Times and at the news agency Reutersin "unpredictable" places like Berlin and Moscow. It was precisely in the Russian city that he became acquainted with the art of espionage. Some time later, already fascinated by the idea, he joined the British Navy's Secret Service and, like his illustrious character, rose to the rank of commander, an experience that helped him quickly become one of the most exciting and prolific authors in the history of espionage novels. Fleming created an icon of the Cold War years; it was only a matter of time before the theme of espionage and the most seductive and dangerous secret agent reached the cinema. Ian Fleming died of a heart attack in Kent, England, on August 12, 1964.
