Não é Karen Traviss, logo não esperava o militarismo que tanto adorei nas obras anteriores. Mas Hough não desapontou. É uma nova página de Gears, mas os personagens estão lá e ele entende-os bem. Kait é uma personagem bem sólida, que trás um novo e perspetiva a Gears, mas sem parecer fora da sala. É bom, gostei, recomendo! No entanto, não me desperta o mesmo que Karen Traviss...pelo menos não neste. Veremos no próximo capítulo.
