ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dorothy L. Sayers

Dorothy L. Sayers was born in Oxford, United Kingdom, on July 13, 1893. She was one of the first women to graduate from Oxford University, in 1915, and in 1921 she joined an advertising agency, where she was... editor for almost a decade. His interest in mystery literature began around this time, having published Whose Body?Her first crime novel, published in 1923, immediately featured Lord Peter Wimsey, an aristocratic amateur detective who became one of the most famous crime heroes worldwide. The acclaim, from both critics and readers, was immediate, and over nearly twenty years Sayers published eleven novels and five collections of short stories centered on this character. In 1930, along with authors such as Agatha Christie, Anthony Berkeley, and G. K. Chesterton, she founded the Detection Club, a club for crime writers that still exists today. Considered one of the greatest authors of 20th-century crime fiction, Sayers was also a teacher, poet, essayist, playwright, and translator. She died on December 17, 1957.
