Kate Atkinson is one of the most prominent novelists of our time. Published in dozens of countries and languages, it has gained recognition from readers and critics and therefore has today the rare gift of simultaneously winning important literary awards (such as the Costa Book Award, three times) and always being on bestseller lists – it was also awarded by Queen Elizabeth II with the title of Member of the Order of the British Empire for services rendered to literature. A Vast Blue Sky, the novel that Bertrand Editora now gives to Portuguese readers – after Transcription (2020) –, marks the debut in Portugal of one of its most famous and eternal characters, the private detective Jackson Brodie (the saga was adapted into a television series by the BBC).
