Jonathan Black is the pseudonym of Mark Booth. He studied at Ipswich School and Oriel College, Oxford, where he pursued philosophy and theology. He has worked in publishing for over 20 years and is currently responsible for Century, an imprint of Random House UK. In addition to *The Secret History of the World*, a worldwide bestseller whose rights have been sold to more than two dozen countries and which has sold over 80,000 copies in the UK, he has also published *The Secret History of Dante* and *The Sacred History*.
