Jonathan Black é o pseudónimo de Mark Booth. Estudou na Ipswich School e na Oriel College, em Oxford, ali tendo cursado filosofia e teologia. Trabalha no ramo editorial há mais de 20 anos e é hoje responsável pela Century, uma chancela da Random House UK. Além de História Secreta do Mundo, um bestseller mundial cujos direitos foram vendidos para mais de duas dezenas países e vendeu mais de 80 000 exemplares no Reino Unido, publicou também The Secret History of Dante e The Sacred History. História Secreta do Mundo é o resultado de uma vida passada a ler textos desta área, a publicar muitos dos principais autores do ramo e a frequentar livrarias antigas.
